Each box set within the whole was released separately in 1990 and 1991.Each volume contained from one to twelve CDs housed in jewel cases inside a cardboard slipcase.The reissue consists of 17 individual sets in flip-top card boxes with the CDs in paper sleeves.
Digital Mozart Edition Full Set IsThe full set is Philips catalog 464 660-2.The individual Volume releases are Philips catalog numbers 464 7702 through 464 9402, in increments of ten.While comprehensive in its own right, the Wikipedia entries are for reference only, not as a data source for Discogs entries. The complete set is Philips 446 222-2, and the individual discs are Philips catalog numbers 446 223-2 to 446 247-2 (International). It is no longer (2020) available, having been superseded by Mozart 225: The New Complete Edition released in 2016. This PDF version is headed by a caution that translates as follows. That said, it already has much to offer, including material that for most people would previously have required a trip to one or more libraries, and much else not found in any library. The DMEs plan of organization is explained on its home page as follows: 1. The DME wishes to provide access to the complete works of Wolfgang Amad Mozart (17561791) in digital format via the internet for study and performance purposes. Subprojects include editions of the musical works, which are presented in the form of the NMA Online 2 (online since 2006) and in the form of a fully digital music edition ( DME::Music, under development), 3 an edition of the texts to Mozarts dramatic works ( DME::Librettos ) 4 as well as an edition of the letters by the Mozart family and documents related to the family and history of the foundation ( DME::Letters Documents ). The digital services of the DME are supplemented by catalogs and databases related to the musical works and their sources including information on their history and reception ( DME::Sources Documentation ). The DME sees itself as the digital portal of Mozart research at the ISM. It plans to integrate the digital resources of the ISM and to provide interfaces for external services. Subject to copyright provisions, the DME also provides access to digital images of original sources, whether by digitizing its own collections ( Bibliotheca Mozartiana digital ), 6 or by linking to external resources. Digital Mozart Edition Download Of FilesFree access to the DME over the internet, including the download of files for non-commercial purposes (license CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), is an integral part of the DME concept. Of the four with live links, the first, NMA Online, is the most straightforward. Not found in the twenty-volume reprint but included in the online version are all of the NMA s Critical Reports for the volumes of scores, and all twenty-six supplementary volumes but two ( NMA X35, Abt.1: Addenda and Corrigenda; NMA X35 Abt.2: Indexes), which are listed as forthcoming. It seems remarkable (to me, at least) that such a costly edition, which is still in print, can be made available at no charge, thanks to generous foundation support. Clicking on NMA Online (and agreeing to the terms of use) brings up a list of the generic categories by which the publication is organized. There one encounters a lightly annotated list of Volumes 16 to 42 of the print edition, of which number 32 proves to be Figaro (see Figure 1 ). Clicking on the icons to the right of any one of the three volumes listed for Figaro brings up good-quality scans of its complete contents, any number of individual pages of which can be downloaded and printed. The red-colored i icon brings up a volumes introduction, the black music note icon the score, and the grey pages icon the Critical Report. Figaro s act 4 finale contains 521 measures and is divided into five scenes that do not necessarily begin with the set piece for which the scene is best known. Otherwise look at the three functions in tiny type at the extreme upper left: Table of Contents, Critical Report, and Synopsis. The first of these leads to a detailed table of contents from which one can click on any musical number ( nota bene, not scene) to be taken to the page in the score on which it begins. Finally, we have a more helpful list of the contents of the finale, although a user would still have to know that Gente, gente is the lead-in in order to quickly locate Contessa, perdono. This arrangementmultiple recordingstactfully deals with the need to avoid endorsing any particular version, however excellent, as some sort of quasi-official aural representation of the NMA, or indeed of the opera itself. Any portion of this libretto-as-sung text can be highlighted and copied into another document; and by clicking on the PDF download button in the upper right-hand corner, the complete text can be acquired in a format not found in the printed NMA.
